From Angela Kirk, some good news:-

I just wanted to say that your website is very good and informative.

My daughter was diagnosed with Aspergers quite late at the age of 15. In some ways I am glad of this as not knowing previously meant we have not treated her with kid gloves.

She left school at 16 and I was worried about her finding work. I did have some help from a charity but I found that they dwelt too much on the negatives about aspergers and not the positives. What I then did was wrote a covering letter about Rebecca giving the positives of Aspergers, I sent this along with her CV to shops, cafes and hotels. Within a week she had a job at a hotel and has gained in confidence. I did take information in to the hotel about her Aspergers and they have been really good with her.

Another thing that Rebecca is really good at is singing and even though she finds some normal everyday things difficult she is able to get on stage and sing. She has got through the first round of the X factor twice and has appeared in some shows for charity events. Last month she sang at the Y theatre and on Friday the 15th May she is singing in the Leicesters got Talent Show at the Platinum Suite in Leicester.

I am very proud of her and how she deals with the Aspergers. After looking at your site I thought it would be nice to send this through with the positives of Aspergers and that with understanding from employers and others, people can be helped to achieve their full potential.
