About Aspergers Syndrome:-
Aspergers syndrome, the invisible disability, is a form of autism that affects the way a person communicates and relates to others. This can range from difficulty in communicating, social relationships and understanding and a lack of imagination and creative play.
The overarching terminology is Pervasive Development Disorders (PDD). Within this there is a spectrum of behaviours which is collectively termed PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrome) and there is also the Autistic Spectrum. There is ongoing debate on whether these are separate conditions, whether they overlap or whether it is all one spectrum.
We are aware that everyone, especially those with a type of PDD, sees the world through eyes different from our own and it is one of the hardest things to do to put yourself in their shoes – AND not impose our standards and ideals in the process.
Briefly the main traits for Aspergers are:-
Difficulty in communicating
Difficulty in Social Relationships
Poor/lack of creativity and imagination
And, in the main, those with Aspergers have a higher IQ than the average.
